Description

Antonín Dvorák arranged by Melanie Thorne

Slavonic Dance No. 9 op.72 was the first dance in a set of 8 orchestral pieces composed in 1886.  It was first composed for piano four hands, then orchestrated, and now in the form of a saxophone quartet!  It was inspired by Slavic folk music, and although never quotes original folk melodies, evokes their style and spirit through the rhythmic patterns and structure.
This arrangement includes melodic interest in all parts and would be a popular concert item.
(Grade 7/8) [3 B♭/Bass B♭]
