Slavonic Dance No.9 op.72
SKU: SM-F94F
£14.95Antonín Dvorák arranged by Melanie Thorne
Slavonic Dance No. 9 op.72 was the first dance in a set of 8 orchestral pieces composed in 1886. It was first composed for piano four hands, then orchestrated, and now in the form of a flute quartet! It was inspired by Slavic folk music, and although never quotes original folk melodies, evokes their style and spirit through the rhythmic patterns and structure.
This arrangement includes melodic interest in all parts and would be a popular concert item.

The Eventual arrival of the Queen of Sheba
SKU: SM-F82E
£10.95G F Handel ~ arranged by Melanie Thorne
This is an arrangement of the famous ‘Entrance of the Queen of Sheba’ from Solomon. It is not always faithful to the original as it is not just a transcription and has been slightly shortened to make it playable for wind instruments. The 4th part also gives the work a sense of direction through the varying bass line, and provides interest, rather than just harmonic support, for the 4th Flute (opt. alto or bass) player. The Teddy Bears’ Picnic
SKU: SM-F93E
£10.95John W Bratton ~ arranged by Melanie Thorne
The melody of the original work by John W Bratton, was composed in 1907. The lively, original two step style lends itself well to an arrangement for Flute quartet. Needless to say, Sempre has included some individuality in this arrangement, with melodic interest in all parts, a brief swing-style section, and a fast finale to complete the work. (Grade 6-8)
